Problem
In the times of pandemic and lock down in India, when food, restaurant & travel business is worst hit, Caloriesmart also could not escape the hazard. Business continuity across channels is severely hit due to lock-down placed and combat safety and health hazards. Being a start-up, Gauri and her team needed to explore its options to overcome the foreseen challenges with employees, stakeholders with operations.
There is also a realization that there are millions of daily wage workers and others who are struggling for one meal in a day during these times.
Solution
Thanks to Caloriesmart’s infrastructure and foresightedness of Ms.Gauri and her team, while they could not escape the business reality the company found a way to continue and stay engaged by contributing to the larger good. Calorismart was back in rigor by turning its kitchen into a community kitchen. The community kitchen is preparing basic meals with the help of its employees to support the underprivileged, migrant, and poor people. For the financials and other support, the team reached out to their customers, other stakeholders, private donors, and NGOs. The company is working at its half the employee strength and are cooking, delivering millions of packets to the needy across Delhi/NCR.
Outcome
Gauri with her team at Caloriesmart is contributing to the society at large with support from its customers, stakeholders, and other NGOs. The company rose to the occasion by creating a model that utilizes current infrastructure and continues functioning in the times of pandemic.
